Sober Living in Omaha Has Changed. Here's What That Looks Like.

If you've been searching for sober living options in Omaha, you've probably noticed that most of what you find looks roughly the same — a shared house, a weekly fee, a list of rules on the wall.

That model has existed for decades. For men who are well into their recovery and ready for a high degree of independence, it works. It serves a real purpose.

RCVRY HOUSE was built for a different moment — the transition into and through PHP or IOP, when the habits, identity, and support network that will carry a man forward are still being built. Men live at RCVRY HOUSE while actively participating in outpatient treatment, not after it ends. That window is the highest-risk period in early recovery. And what a man needs in that window is different from what he needs six months or a year later.

This is what RCVRY HOUSE looks like from the inside — and what it costs. You can also take a full tour of the house or see what a typical week looks like.

RCVRY HOUSE — men's structured sober living in Omaha, Nebraska

A Home That Reflects the Standard You're Trying to Hold

The first thing most people notice about RCVRY HOUSE is the house itself.

This is not a converted rental property with mismatched furniture. It's a fully remodeled, modernized home — professionally maintained and fully furnished — in a quiet, safe, well-established Omaha neighborhood. The kind of place that feels like somewhere worth protecting. A full kitchen. Comfortable living spaces with quality furnishings throughout. Comfortable beds in every room. A large backyard with plenty of privacy.

That matters more than it sounds. When a man wakes up every morning in a space that reflects the standard he's trying to hold himself to, it reinforces the identity he's building.

The house also has an infrared sauna — available to participants as a daily wind-down tool and a way to build a consistent self-care habit into their routine.

Full-Time Live-In Staff. Real Accountability.

RCVRY HOUSE has a full-time live-in house manager. Not a part-time check-in. Not a phone number to call if something goes wrong. A person who is present in the house, maintaining structure and providing consistent accountability every single day.

Every participant is breathalyzed each morning and evening — no exceptions. Random drug testing is conducted throughout the week as well. This isn't punitive. It's protective. The men who come through RCVRY HOUSE consistently tell us that the daily accountability check is one of the things they value most — not because they don't trust themselves, but because external accountability removes the mental negotiation that can quietly lead someone off course.

You don't have to decide whether to stay sober today. The structure decides for you. You just have to show up.

Recovery Coaching From Someone Who Has Actually Been There

This is where RCVRY HOUSE is genuinely unlike anything else available in Omaha.

I'm Aaron Barnes, founder of RCVRY HOUSE and a certified recovery coach. I've spent more than a decade in this work — as someone who has walked this road personally, and as a coach who has spent years walking alongside other men doing the same. The one-on-one coaching I provide — the kind that people seek out and pay for on its own — is included as part of the programming for every man who lives at the house. This is not a weekly group check-in. It's real, substantive mentorship focused on practical support, accountability, and helping men build a sustainable life in recovery.

Beyond the one-on-one coaching, participants have around-the-clock peer support from men in recovery who live in the house alongside them — and the live-in house manager is present day and night. This is peer-based recovery support, not clinical therapy. We are not a treatment center. What we are is a community of people who have been through this, who know what the hard moments look like, and who are here for them.

Fitness, Nutrition, and the Body's Role in Recovery

Early recovery is a physical process as much as it is a mental and emotional one. RCVRY HOUSE takes that seriously.

Every participant has a gym membership included. Fitness is built into the weekly schedule — we make it a consistent part of the routine, not an afterthought. Physical exercise is one of the most evidence-backed tools in early recovery: it regulates mood, reduces anxiety, builds discipline, and gives men a healthy outlet for the energy and restlessness that comes with early sobriety.

Basic food is provided. Groceries are stocked. A lot of men coming out of active addiction have spent years not eating well — and a stable, consistent home environment is part of changing that.

Transportation, Weekend Outings, and a Life Worth Living

Getting to outpatient treatment, recovery meetings, and group activities is non-negotiable. Transportation support is included — logistics don't become a reason to skip the things that matter most.

Recovery doesn't happen only inside the house. RCVRY HOUSE organizes and pays for weekend outings — movie nights, bowling, hiking, kayaking, the Old Market Farmers Market, community service, camping trips, and more. These aren't optional extras. They're part of the program.

Building a life in recovery means learning how to have fun without substances, how to be part of a community, and how to show up for other people. That's what weekends are for here.

The Community That Makes It All Work

Everything above matters. But if you ask the men who have come through RCVRY HOUSE what made the biggest difference, most of them will tell you it was this: the community.

Living alongside other men who understand the specific weight of early recovery — men who will call you out when you're slipping and show up for you when you're struggling — is something you cannot replicate living alone or moving back home. Sunday night dinners. House meetings. Shared meals. Weekend outings. A group of men who are all pointing in the same direction, holding each other accountable, and building something together.

The community at RCVRY HOUSE is not accidental. It's built intentionally and maintained actively. It's one of the primary reasons men who come through this program build recoveries that last.

What This Costs — and What's Included

The monthly fee at RCVRY HOUSE is $1,500. That covers everything described above: the house, the live-in manager, basic food, gym membership, one-on-one recovery coaching, transportation support, paid weekend outings, daily breathalyzing and random drug testing, and the community.

Sober living is not covered by health insurance — this is true across the board, not just here. PHP and IOP treatment programs, which participants are required to be enrolled in, may be covered depending on the plan. But the housing itself is a private expense.

Many families contribute to the fee, particularly in the early months. Participants are required to be working part-time, and the expectation is that over time each man takes on increasing financial responsibility for his own housing — which is itself part of the recovery process. If a family member wants to contribute directly, reach out through the contact page or call (402) 799-4909.

A limited number of partial scholarships are available for men who are highly motivated and ready to fully commit to the program but don't have the financial means or family support to cover the full fee. If cost is the only thing standing between you and a structured, supported recovery, reach out — we don't want that to be the reason.

Who RCVRY HOUSE Is Built For

RCVRY HOUSE is the right fit for men who:

  • Have completed or are actively enrolled in PHP or IOP
  • Are medically stable and don't require 24-hour clinical supervision
  • Are motivated to work, contribute, and take their recovery seriously
  • Want structure, accountability, and a real community — not just a place to sleep

If that sounds like you or someone you love, we'd be glad to talk through whether RCVRY HOUSE is the right next step.

Apply for RCVRY HOUSE or schedule a confidential call — no pressure, no commitment, just a conversation.
